Liposuction is best suited for patients who have problem areas that do not resolve despite diet and exercise. Commonly areas that benefit from liposuction include neck, lateral breast/chest areas, lovehandles, abdomen, back, outer thighs, inner thighs, and knees.
We recommend the use of a compression garment when not showering for the first two weeks, and thereafter as much as possible for the first three months. You will have a more profound shape improvement if you follow this guideline.
Some patients benefit from adding nonsurgical treatments that can smooth the result even more and treat cellulite that isn’t treated with liposuction itself.
Men and women alike enjoy the results of liposuction.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty is a great way to get back the abdomen you once had prior to pregnancy or weight loss. There are different types of abdominoplasty or tummy tuck: MINI in which most of the excess skin is removed from the lower abdomen, or FULL (most common) in which the skin of the abdomen is tightened above and below the umbilicus. Additionally, sutures are used to bring the rectus muscles together, making the core tighter and more shapely. The overall goal is a more shapely core and tighter skin.
Abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction of the love handles, thighs, or any other area (but not the central abdomen). The surgery typically takes between 2.5 and 4 hours and is done in the operating room under general anesthesia. Lots of numbing medication is used during the procedure as well as postoperative numbing medicine that lasts for three days. Prescription pain medication is prescribed as well and the average patient is off of work for 2 weeks (or more depending on the type of work you do).
Initially, you are asked to wear a compression garment when not showering for two weeks, and would benefit in wearing it as much as you can for the first three months. During this time, you are the most “moldable”, and can enhance your shape with compression garment use. We will recommend the type and size of garment you should order for your procedure.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
Brachioplasty is one of the most popular treatments in body contouring surgery. It requires general anesthesia and typically is done with a one or a combination of liposuction as well as excess skin removal. The length and location of scars depends on the location and degree of excess skin and soft tissue. It is typical for patients to wear compressive sleeves after surgery to have an optimal result.
Labiaplasty is designed to treat unwanted labial skin excess resulting from childbirth or naturally over time. Labial skin excess can involve the labia minora, the labia majora, or both labia. The treatment involves a reduction of the excess skin and other procedures if needed to rejuvenate the appearance of the vulva. The sutures are carefully placed to ensure a comfortable and aesthetic result. The procedure typically takes one hour and is well tolerated. Depending on the type and extent of reduction needed, the procedure can be performed either in the office or in the outpatient surgery center. Patients are typically very satisfied with the outcome of labiaplasty.
Scrotoplasty is a common procedure in genital rejuvenation. When the scrotum has developed unwanted extra skin, it can give the genital area an aged appearance and sometimes create functional concerns. The scrotum can be successfully rejuvenated with a well-designed excision of scrotal skin and a scrotal lift (if needed). This procedure typically lasts one hour, and is done in an outpatient surgery center under anesthesia. The result is immediate, and the scar is very subtle. Scrotoplasty / scrotal lift does not involve the testicles and therefore does not impact testicular function. Most patients report that this procedure is not painful. It is recommended that the patient wear a support garment after scrotoplasty or scrotal lift for two to three weeks.
